What to Expect When Admitting Yourself to Rehab

It’s time

You’re feeling like it might be time to explore treatment options for a rehabilitation center and not sure what to expect? Well first off congratulate yourself for embarking on this incredibly important step towards recovery. It can be a very difficult decision in life, for you and your family. Although it may seem overwhelming at first, we’ve put together this article for you to know what to expect when admitting yourself to rehab. This will help you become better acquainted with the admissions process and prepare you for the transition into private addiction treatment.

What’s best for you?

As you begin your search through different treatment options in your area, it’s important to narrow your choice by identifying only the centers that provide specialized support for the addiction(s) and the substance(s) you’re addicted to. Get to know the team and see who’s experience resonates with you. Additionally, find a location that provides the environment that best supports your personal needs. For example, if you’re a person who enjoys the outdoors, a location with outdoor activities and extensive grounds would be optimal for you.

The call

So you’ve found the center you like and now it’s time to give them a call. You will need to call their admissions department to learn more about their services and ask about what will be needed to access care at their center. Once the admissions staff has an understanding of your needs, they will be able to let you know if their treatment program is appropriate for you. If not, they will probably be able to refer you to other types of support.

Next steps

After your initial contact with the treatment centre, you may have additional questions. For example, you may want to know:

  • How much the rehabilitation program will cost?
  • If the center will accept insurance?
  • More details about the specific treatment modalities that are used at the center.
